The book finds the reader?
The Why Are You Here Café approached me three times before. The first time my father mentioned it some years ago. The second time a good friend told me how it helped him some months ago. The third time the book physically appeared out of the blue some days ago. For me, this was a sign. And a day later, I placed the order.
I consider myself a slow reader but The Why Are You Here Café with its 130 pages was done in one evening, the same day it arrived! And that only happens with me if it is a really good book! Now, I consider it a must read for everyone at a particular stage in life, when you are not 100% happy with how things are going. However, if this is not the case, then I rather suggest saving this one for a later point in time.
my advice: Do not read my summary below! just get the book yourself!
All righty. As you are reading THIS, YOU did not buy the book. So Here is my Summary.
Ask yourself if what you are doing is really your purpose for existing. More likely than not, it is not the case. Otherwise you would not be interested in this book.
A lot of people do not do what they want to do. Instead they buy lots of things as a reward for their hard work. Yet, all the things are not fulfilling and as a consequence people tend to work even more in order to afford buying more things. Thus, people very often spend their lives with a job and things they do not really care about. The hard thing is to find out what fulfills YOU instead of simply adopting what others and especially the media tell us to be fulfilling.
People that do not do what fulfills them fear death. They always feel that there is still something that they have yet to achieve in their life.
When we think of what we actually want to do in life, we tend to think that it is not going to work. However, when we look at people who we consider being fulfilled in their jobs, all of them seem to be successful. They are in fact good at what they do, because they are concerned with it all the time. They do not get tired from it. They even seem to get more energy out of it. They also do not have to fear unemployment, because their advice and their skills are highly sought after. These people seem to be lucky. This is because their passion makes us feel great when interacting with them. So we tend to help them, recommend them to others and have fruitful relationships. This is what happens when you do what fulfills you.
YOU are the only person who knows what your purpose for existing is. If YOU do not go for it, OTHERS will take care of your life. More likely than not, this approach will lack fulfillment! So be proactive and find out what fulfills you. Expose yourself to new things in life - ideas, cultures, sports, professions, or whatever it is you want to go for.
One method to start the process is to begin doing something you enjoy for an hour a day. Over time this could extend to two hours, three hours and so on. And before your recognize it, this something has taken over your life.
